You will see bird species as fascinating and beautiful as the Red-legged shag, the Vermilion flycatcher, the many-colored rush-tyrant, the Great grebe ort he Black-crowned night-heron.
Additionally you will observe at sea Southern sea lions and bottlenose dolphins close-up.
Our tour starts at your hotel and leads us first to the small fishing port of Pucusana about 65 km south of Lima. Here we will begin our marine tour with feeding birds: a great fun for everybody and a great opportunity for extreme close-ups from the world’s most beautiful tern species, the endemic Inca-tern.
From Pucusana we will venture 40 km southwards to the island of Asia. On the way you can see a great number of marine birds, such as the red-legged shag, the most colorful cormorant species of Peru and the highly endangered and endemic Peruvian diving petrel. During about 30 percent of our ocean trips we are lucky enough to meet huge flocks of marine birds (boobies, pelicans and cormorants) fishing together. Then the air is filled with the splashing sounds of bird wings on the water and dive-bombing boobies all around you. One of the most fascinating birding experiences in the world.

At the island you will see Southern sea lions, the endangered and endemic Humboldt penguin and many other guano bird species. We will then land at the beach of Buchama where you will be picked up in order to drive to the Ecological Reserve Wetland of Puerto Viejo. Here you can see a great number of wetland birds, some of them being quite special like the Many-colored rush-tyrant, the endemic Coastal miner, the fascinating Lesser nighthawk or the colorful Black-crowned night-heron.
To round up the day we will take you to a hummingbird habitat near the port of Pucusana where you can find for example the Amazilia hummingbird and the Oasis hummingbird.
A total of 115 birds have been registered in the three habitats you are going to visit during this full day program.
Our services do include all terrestrial transports, marine transport, lunch boxes and refreshments, as well as english/spanish/german speaking naturalist guide.
If you are a professional birder you can not miss out on this trip.
